when I started I seemed to have put a wrong name in so the dna matches are for my aunt not for me? how do I change this so I am looking for DNA matches for myself how do I begin again

thankyou for your reply I can edit but am not sure who I am supposed to link to? I have looked for help but cannot get an answer there which why I posted here. I am interested of course in who I share DNA with in a search for a grandfather and a great grandfather thanks cheers

Hi Judy,

You would link the DNA raw data file to the person whose DNA is in the file. In this case, it would be you.

Based on your tree, it seems like you have already identified your grandparents and great-grandparents.

thanks I have done that. I subscribed to premium and the first page that popped up had the information I was looking for however it has disappeared and I cant get anything other than a list of DNA matches that doesntchange irf I look for paternal or maternal lines Im doing something wrong.

Geneanet does not know if a match is from your maternal or paternal line. It simply compares your DNA to that of other Geneanet members and gives you the list of members with whom you share enough DNA to indicate a possible relationship.

As a premium member, Geneanet also compares your tree with the matches' trees to see if it can identify common ancestors and locations. Unfortunately, many members only upload their DNA file but not their tree.

On https://en.geneanet.org/dna/dashboard/ you can see your paternal and maternal haplogroups if Geneanet can determine them. That depends on the lab that tested your DNA (see https://en.geneanet.org/dna/help/what-is-a-haplogroup).

I have my dna data linked to me in my family tree. The dna data was uploaded in August and to date I do not have any dna matches. I have many matches on other genealogical sites. Why has my link not worked?

I suggest that you remove it then upload it again, and tell us if you still don't have any matches.
